JV’s Diner
Menu Rebrand & Redesign
JV’s Diner is a 1950’s-retro diner-style family owned restaurant located in Lake Cowichan, BC. They approached me in need of a take-out menu redesign which lead to a rebrand and more projects.
The Challenge
My freelance client, JVs diner brand, needed a brand refresh. Their materials lacked cohesiveness, and their menu was difficult to read. The rebrand needed to feel current but also reflect their retro diner roots. The new brand must easily flow between physical space and online/social media space.
The Approach
Adapting to an online presence was crucial in marketing towards current customers as well as gaining new ones. Organization of content and readability were essential considerations. The colours and shapes from the existing logo became the starting point for developing the identity. I started by reducing the extensive menu into a smaller format and introduced visual elements to help make reading easier. I improved the design's universality by making both the print and online features function in both environments.
One of the six menu boards designed for the ‘in-house” wall menus. These menus were designed to be clear and organized as well as easily read from a distance.
What i did

Takeout menus and in-house wall menus were redesigned with the new organization system and visual treatments.
